Bad weather and too much golf has kept me off the bike for over a week. So this morning I dressed up in late fall gear and headed out for a morning ride. I decided to mix up my usual Wednesday ride to Saxe Point by taking a street I've passed a hundred times but never been up. Boy was it steep. So steep I didn't make it to the top and had to walk the last bit. Didn't look so steep on my map app. It was for roads like this that I tried, without luck, to get a climbier cassette. I was only able to go from a 27 to 28 tooth granny ring. I was hoping for 32 or 34 but it wasn't compatable with my front gears. Who knew. So I also confirmed that my heart is not going to kill me by over exertion. After I got the heartrate down and caught my breath I dropped down into Esquimault town center and just runed for home. Bagels from Mt. Royal and shower!
