My street has been closed for 2 months while they work on the Active Transportation Solutions, aka bike lanes.  And now it's open, so I rode up it see what they've done.  Not much as it turned out.  Eliminated all the on street parking (which will almost certainly make even more drivers angry at cyclists) and painted lines on the road.  Since I was up in unridden territory I decided to take an older active transportation route, Haultain Street, and see where it led me.  It was a pleasant ride on a mostly flat set of streets that finally dumped me on Douglas with no options other than riding up Douglas (or turning around).  Fortunatly there's a bike/bus/turning lane...so I rode up it until it connected to the Galloping Goose.  Exploring is fun but I don's see doing this route again.
